The ice cap, the tunnel cut into it, the machines that cross it and the roads that reach it — photographs of the places the tours listed here actually go.

The first group is inside the ice: the tunnel walls, the lit corridor and the blue a metre of glacier does to daylight. Then the surface itself, the crevasse fields and the eight-wheeled trucks that drive out across them. After those come the snowmobiles, in the flat white light the riders describe and in the low sun that makes the late departures worth taking.

The last group is the road out: Gullfoss from the path above it, Strokkur going up at the Geysir field, the empty highland plain on the way to the snowline, and the aurora over the ice. Every one of them is on at least one itinerary here, and a Langjokull glacier tour is the shortest route to most of them.
